RIA Novosti launches Koktebel travel guide

MOSCOW, August 20, RIA Novosti. In the run-up to the Koktebel Jazz Party international jazz festival, RIA Novosti, with the support of the Voloshin House Museum, has launched an audio guide of Koktebel, an important place for creative intellectuals.

The Koktebel Jazz Pre-Party travel guide is available through a free mobile app called izi.TRAVEL on iOS and Android devices. After downloading the app, users should open the link to the guide or use the search feature to find it. After that, they should press the Use button. The app and the travel guide work both online and offline. The Koktebel Jazz Pre-Party audio guide makes it possible to tour the city without leaving home.

Since 2003, Koktebel has been the venue of the Koktebel Jazz Party. The audio guide route includes eight stops. It is possible to roam the Villa Kimmeria and to visit the burial mound/vault of the Junge family, whose founder, Eduard A. Junge, a professor of ophthalmology from St. Petersburg, also established the Koktebel gated dacha community. One can also visit the former dacha of writer Vikenty Veresayev and the home of Maximilian Voloshin, a Silver Age poet and artist. The travel guide also shows the famous Kiselyovka, where the dacha of artist Yury Kiselyov, who attended the 1965 Glasnost Rally in Moscow, is located, and lots more.

Journalist Dmitry Kiselev, the founder of the Koktebel Jazz Party festival, narrates the route. The audio guide also features Koktebel Jazz Party Artistic Director, saxophonist, composer and arranger Sergei Golovnya, Russian trumpeter Pyotr Vostokov, saxophonist Alexander Bril and pianist Daniil Kramer.

The Koktebel Jazz Party, the main musical event of the Crimean summer season, kicks off on August 21.  Russian and international jazz gurus are set to perform for three days, August 21-23, on the Black Sea coast. The complete festival programme is posted on the website http://koktebel-jazz.ru.

The festival’s Organizing Committee will comply with all Rospotrebnadzor’s coronavirus-related sanitary requirements. This will help guarantee the safety of festival participants and audiences.

In April 2020, the Koktebel Jazz Party, the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency and the Red Square Group organized the Doctor Jazz Party online marathon in support of Russian doctors and hospitals during the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The marathon got underway on International Jazz Day, April 30, on the leading Runet website, ria.ru, and on RIA Novosti’s official VKontakte account. The Doctor Jazz Party online marathon brought together jazz music stars from nine countries, including Russia, China, the United States, Brazil and Japan. The marathon lasted seven hours, with about two million people watching its performers.

The Koktebel Jazz Party was conceived in 2003 as a private initiative of journalist Dmitry Kiselev, the founding father of Koktebel jazz. The festival got its name from the small Crimean town and now occupies a befitting place among jazz festivals worldwide. As usual, the organizers do not disclose the names of its famous participants. Over the years, legendary US drummer Jimmy Cobb, Cuba’s Gonzalo Rubalcaba, recipient of the Grammy Award for the best Latin jazz album, US bass guitarist and bassist Stanley Clarke, known for his innovative technique, New Jazz stars Club Des Belugas from Germany, unique saxophonist Robert Anchipolovsky from Israel and Germany’s De-Phazz ensemble from Heidelberg   have all performed at the festival. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin attended the 2017 Koktebel Jazz Party.

The Koktebel Jazz Party is not just world-class jazz, but true freedom that creates a united vibration of music, the sea, body and soul. The Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency holds the festival, and the Red Square Group is responsible for orgnizational matters. Since 2014, the Russian Ministry of Culture has provided support to the festival.

VGTRK, Radio JAZZ 89.1 FM, the tvzavr online cinema, Time-Out.ru and Radio Sputnik will act as Koktebel Jazz Party information partners.
